River City Anglers Swap Meet

About River City Anglers

The idea for River City Anglers developed from a Sioux City group which regularly fished at Whetstone Bay on Lake Francis Case. They envisioned a club where people could get together, and help in the betterment of the sport and our natural resources.

They placed an ad in Journal May of 1985 inviting anyone who liked to fish to meet at the Hilton Inn. To their surprise there was standing room only.

The club was organized in June of 1985. It was at this time that club objectives were established:

To promote high quality fisheries

To promote good sportsmanship

To support conservation practices

To promote fish research and stocking

To support reduction of water pollution

First year outings were held at Scalp Creek, Spirit Lake and Browns Lake. The first fishing seminar was held January of 1986, featuring Gary Roach. The seminar was great success and established the financial viability of the club.

Through the years the outings began to grow and take the club to a variety of places, including Okoboji, Blue Lake, Whetstone Bay, Lake Vermillion, and the Missouri River.

Each spring a fish fry is held to promote new memberships. In the fall a pork feed is held at Snyder Bend or Browns Lake
